EYFS

Curriculum

At Leaders International School, our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum is designed to provide a strong, nurturing foundation for children. We focus on the holistic development of each child—academically, socially, emotionally, and physically—through meaningful play and inquiry-based learning.

The curriculum is centered around the seven key areas of learning and development, as outlined in the EYFS framework:

  • 1. Communication and Language – Building listening, speaking, and understanding through rich conversations, storytelling, and role play.
  • 2. Personal, Social, and Emotional Development – Encouraging self-confidence, empathy, independence, and positive relationships.
  • 3. Physical Development – Enhancing gross and fine motor skills through indoor and outdoor play, movement, and coordination activities.
  • 4. Literacy – Introducing phonics, story comprehension, mark-making, and early reading and writing skills.
  • 5. Mathematics – Developing number sense, counting, patterns, shapes, and basic problem-solving through hands-on learning.
  • 6. Understanding the World – Exploring nature, culture, technology, and the environment to make sense of the world around them.
  • 7. Expressive Arts and Design – Inspiring creativity through music, dance, art, imaginative play, and expression with different media.

Our approach blends structured guidance with child-led exploration, ensuring each learner has the confidence and curiosity to thrive. Activities are carefully planned to match individual needs while fostering early leadership, collaboration, and innovation.
